    We can now handle word problems whose structure yields a quadratic equation.

    As with earlier application problems, the main goal is to construct an equation which describes the relationships among the relevant quantities in the problem.

    In this section our success in solving a problem depends on our ability to construct and solve an appropriate equation which is in the form of a quadratic equation.

    That is, an equation of the form:

    Once again, you should make sure that you construct an equation which contains only one variable. This will make for a less complicated problem solution.
