As you might expect, equations can get more complicated than linear or quadratic.

In this lesson, for example, you will be asked to solve equations in which the variable appears inside a radical and equations which contain a "quadratic equation in disguise."

Our basic strategy for solving such equations will be to try to rewrite the original equation in such a way that we can apply the techniques of solving linear and quadratic equations.
