So far in this course, when working with functions, our exponents have been specific numbers.

For example,

In this section we will address the question:

What happens if we allow the value of the exponent to vary?

For example, consider the functions:

We call such functions "exponential functions."

We will answer many of the same questions that we have already answered concerning other types of functions.

Namely,  we will learn how to describe and graph exponential functions by identifying the domain, range, intercepts and asymptotes.

We will also learn how to "undo" an exponential function by using another special function called a "logarithm."
